Hashtags and Notifications

Learn how Hashtags can be used with Notifications

Hashtags can also be used with notifications. In the example above we tagged various objects with the Hashtag ‘SUPERIMPORTANT’. This was to limit Users access; we may also want to notify those Users regarding problems only on Hosts/Service Checks that have been tagged with ‘SUPERIMPORTANT’.

This is more prevalent in an environment with multiple customers or multiple business units. If you have multiple customers logging into and using Opsview Monitor, you should tag all of their objects (Hosts/Service Checks) with a unique Hashtag, i.e. ‘#financeglobalcapital.

Then, for access control, you should create a new Role called ‘Finance Global Capital’ that limits Users to only being able to view objects tagged with ‘#financeglobalcapital’. You should then create Users for Sysadmins of Finance Global Capital and assign them the ‘Finance Global Capital’ Role. That solves the security requirements.

For those Users in the ‘Finance Global Capital’ Role, you can then create and assign a shared notification profile that only notifies them when a problem occurs on objects tagged with ‘#financeglobalcapital’.
